First BCS Offer For McShepard

Cleveland Heights cornerback Marcus McShepard might be getting overlooked by some high profile teammates, but college recruiters are aware of him. Tuesday evening saw the speedster land a big offer.

Cleveland Heights senior cornerback Marcus McShepard (5-foot-11, 185-pounds) has seen his recruitment take off in the past month, and Tuesday evening he landed his first BCS offer.

"I was offered by Northwestern tonight, and I'm very excited about that," McShepard stated. "This is a big offer to me, because Northwestern is such a great school. My coach told me after school that I had the offer, and we all were very happy about it."

"I was at Northwestern in July for camp and really liked it there," he added. "When they gave me a tour of the campus and explained their academic program, honestly, it seemed like the right place for me. They are recruiting me as a cornerback, which is my favorite position, and where most schools are recruiting me for."

McShepard also holds offers from most of the MAC schools and Air Force, and although one school was sticking out to him, the Northwestern offer could be a game-changer.

"I really like Toledo a lot," he admitted. "I took a visit there and they really made an impression on me. I like the coaching staff, and how they plan on using me. The Northwestern offer really changes things for me, and these two would be at the top of my list right now."

"I did schedule an official visit with Northwestern for the end of this month," McShepard said. "I'm hoping to make my decision by the end of December, and I will have to sit down with my family and talk things over."

FoxSportsNext will continue to follow McShepard's recruitment over the coming weeks, and will update his situation as warranted. Recommended Stories
